Korean Dragon Ties, 2023

Neckties

Commissioned by a wife for her husband for Christmas. Made of a box of history-laden ties he had collected over the course of his life.  

Each scale was individually stiched to resemble a mitered tie end.

Hidden "easter eggs"  throughout feature Darth Vader, Leah, Yosemite Sam, Bugs Bunny, Ben Franklin, the eight ball etc...

The ball grants wishes, enlightenment, and immortality.

Korean dragons are serpent-like benevolent creatures. They are bearded with whiskers, antlers, ears, and a bear-like nose.

51 ties. Each tie was used or represented, and all the fabric visible on the piece is from the ties- including the tie linings.
